ICHTHYOL OINTMENT 10% 20%

 

INSTRUCTIONS 

of using Ichthyol ointment 10% and 20% 

for the treatment of wounds, burns, dermatitis in animals 

(Organization-developer:  “BioKhimPharm”, Raduzhny, Vladimir region). 

I. General information 

1. Trade name of the drug: ichthyol ointment 10% and 20% (Unguentum Ichtyoli 10%, 20%).

International Nonproprietary Name: Ichthyol.

2. Dosage form – Ointment. The medicinal preparation in 100 g as an active substance contains respectively 10 g and 20 g of ichthyol, and as an auxiliary, respectively 90 g and 80 g of Vaseline medical or 90 g and 80 grams of a mixture of polyethylene oxide-400 and polyethylene oxide-1500 in a ratio of 82:18. In appearance, the preparation is a dark-brown ointment with the smell of ichthyol.

3. Issue Ointment ichthyol 10% and 20% prepacked in 10, 20, 40, 200, 400 g in polymer cans, capped with a lid with the control of the first opening.

4. Store the preparation in the manufacturer’s closed container in a dry, dark place, separate from food and feed at a temperature of 10 ° C to 25 ° C.

Shelf life of the drug under the storage conditions – 2 years from the date of manufacture. Do not use the drug after the expiry date.

5. Ointment ichthyol 10% and 20% should be stored in places inaccessible to children.

6. Dispose of unused product in accordance with legal requirements.

II. Pharmacological properties 

7. Ichthyol ointment 10% and 20% refers to the pharmacotherapeutic group of drugs for the treatment of skin diseases.

Ointment ichthyol 10% and 20% has antiseptic and anti-inflammatory effect. When applied to wounds, it narrows the vessels, reduces secretion and exudation, and also accelerates the regeneration of damaged tissue.

By the degree of impact on the body Ointment ichthyol 10% and 20% according to GOST 12.1.007-76 refers to substances of low danger (4 hazard class).

III. The order of application

8. Ichthyol ointment 10% and 20% are used by animals (except cats) for skin diseases (burns, wounds, dermatitis). Ointment ichthyol 20% – with furunculosis, pyoderma.

9. Contraindications to the use of ointment with ichthyol 10% and 20% is not established.

10. Ointment of ichthyol 10% and 20% is prescribed externally. The drug is applied to the affected areas with an even thin layer 1 to 2 times a day for 5-10 days.

11. Symptoms of drug overdose are not established.

12. Features of the drug during its first use and cancellation is not established.

13. Failure to comply with the recommended interval with repeated use of the drug may lead to a decrease in its effectiveness. When the next application of the drug is missed, its use is resumed as soon as possible according to the same scheme.

14. Ichthyol ointment 10% and 20% does not cause side effects and complications in animals when applied in accordance with this instruction.

15. The use of ointment with ichthyol 10% and 20% does not exclude the use of other drugs.

16. Products of animal origin obtained from animals after application of ichthyol with ointment 10% and 20% can be used without restrictions.

18. When working with the drug, it is forbidden to drink, smoke and eat. After working with the drug, wash your hands with soap and water.

It is prohibited to use an empty package from a medicinal product for household purposes.

People with hypersensitivity to the components of the drug should avoid direct contact with ichthyol ointment 10% and 20%.
