INSTRUCTION
of using Biostomasan to control ectoparasites in animals and the destruction of insects in livestock, ancillary and household premises
(organization-developer: “BioKhimPharm”, Raduzhny, Vladimir region).
I. General information
1. Trade name: Biostomasan.
International nonproprietary name: cypermethrin (Cypermethrin), Tetramethrin (Tetramethrin).
2. Dosage form: liquid concentrate for solution preparation for external use.
Biostomasan contains 1 ml as active substances 50 mg of transmix (mixture of isomers of synthetic pyrethroid β-cypermethrin), 5 mg of tetramethrin and excipients.
Biostomans are produced by prepackaging 1 liter in cans of polymer material of appropriate capacity.
3. Each bottle of canister is marked with the name of the manufacturer, its address and trademark, the name of the medicinal product, the name and content of the active substances, the serial number, the date of manufacture and the expiration date (month, year), storage conditions, quantities in the vial, “For animals”, “Shake before use, TU designations and provide instructions for use. The shelf life of the medicinal product if stored in a sealed container is 3 years from the date of manufacture.
It is forbidden to use Biostomasan after the expiration date.
4. The drug is stored in a sealed manufacturer’s packaging in a dry, protected from light place separately from food and feed at a temperature of 5 ° C to 25 ° C. Freezing is not allowed.
5. Biostomasan should be stored in places inaccessible to children.
6. Dispose of unused medicinal product with expired shelf life in accordance with the legislation.
II. Pharmacological properties
7. Pharmacotherapeutic group: means of killing ectoparasites.
Biostomasan is an insect-acaricidal contact agent active against sarcopthoid, ixodid and demodectic mites, lice, fleas, withers, blood-sucking insects, zoophilic flies and synanthropines (domestic) insects.
Pharmacological properties of the drug are due to the synthetic pyrethroids of the enteric-contact action, a mixture of β-cypermethrin isomers and tetrametrin.
The components of the drug have synergism of action (mutually reinforce each other’s actions), are active against various species of ticks, flies, lice and other ectoparasites of animals. Violate the function of the nervous system, acting on sodium-potassium channels and calcium exchange in the synapses, which leads to the release of excessive amounts of acetylcholine during the passage of a nerve impulse. Poisoning in arthropods is manifested in a strong excitation, lesion of motor centers, accompanied by paralysis and subsequent death.
Biostomasan has a long residual effect on the skin-hair cover of animals. When the skin is applied, it accumulates in the epidermis and sebaceous glands of the animal. It has a contact effect on ectoparasites, providing protection of animals from insects within 10-15 days.
The drug Biostomasan for toxicity for warm-blooded people refers to moderately toxic (hazard class III according to GOST 12.1.007-76). In recommended dilutions it is harmless for warm-blooded animals.
III. The order of application.
8. Biostomasan are used with a curative and prophylactic purpose to control ectoparasites of cattle, sheep, pigs, horses, dogs and cats, and also for the destruction of flies, ants and cockroaches in livestock, ancillary and household premises.
9. Contraindications: do not use on milking horses and sheep. It is not recommended to treat lambs after weaning as well as puppies and kittens up to two months of age together with the sheep.
10. Biostomasan (concentrate) is used in the form of a working solution obtained by diluting the preparation immediately before the treatment with water in the recommended proportions. The working solution should be used within 24 hours after preparation.
Cattle and horses: spray the whole body of the animal with an aqueous solution of Biostomasan in a dilution 1: 1000 with a rate of consumption of 10 ml / kg of body weight, but not more than 4 liters per animal.
Repeated treatment for entomosis and affection of animals with ixodid mites is carried out according to indications, with sarcoptosis – twice with an interval of 7 days.
Sheep: bathing in a float bath in an aqueous solution of Biostomasana in a 1: 1000 dilution at 60 seconds exposure, or spraying with a spray rate of 1-2 liters per sheared sheep and 2-3 liters on a not cut sheep. Patients with psoroptosis of sheep are treated twice from 7-10 days, suspected of being ill – once. Against ixodid ticks and insects, the treatments are carried out once according to the indications.
Pigs: spray the whole body of the animal with an aqueous solution of Biostomasan in a dilution of 1: 1000 with a rate of 3 ml / kg, but not more than 300 ml per animal. The treatment is carried out twice with an interval of 7-10 days.
Dogs and cats: wetting the entire body surface of the animal with an aqueous solution of Biostomasan in a dilution 1: 200 with a rate of application for longhaired breeds of 10 ml / kg, for short-haired breeds – 5 ml / kg. In case of invasion by fleas or lice, it is necessary to treat also the places where the animal is (litter, booth). Parasites die for several hours. One-time treatment protects the animal from re-invasion for 2-3 days.
With ear scabies and demodicosis, the affected areas are treated by wetting with an impregnated Biostomasan solution in a 1: 100 dilution with a swab, at an interval of 10 days, until a 2-fold negative skin scraping result is obtained.
Rabbits: 1-1.5 ml of 1: 1000 dilution solution with re-treatment after 7 days (treat two ears simultaneously) are used for treatment against ear mites on the damaged areas of external auditory canals.
To destroy flies, spray the drug at a dilution of 1: 1000 on the entire surface of the animal’s body, as well as on the surface of the cells and the room where the rabbits are kept; treatment is effective for 2-3 weeks. The treatment is repeated at intervals of 2-3 weeks.
For flies, ants and cockroaches in livestock, ancillary and household premises: the drug is diluted 1: 200 and applied selectively on the surface, especially on the places of “incubation” of insects, skirting, sections of walls and other objects along which “ant tracks” pass, places localization of cockroaches and ants. Treatment against flies is carried out as necessary, for the destruction of ants and cockroaches – three times with an interval of 6-7 days.
11. Symptoms of overdose when using the drug in accordance with this instruction is not established. In case of accidental ingestion of animals in the amount exceeding the permissible levels, symptomatic treatment should be performed. There are no special antidotes.
12. Features of the drug at the beginning of the application of Biostomasana or when it is canceled is not revealed.
13. Passage of the next treatment with the drug should be avoided, as this may lead to a decrease in therapeutic effectiveness. In the case of missing one or more treatments, the use of Biostomasan is resumed as soon as possible in the same dosage and according to the same scheme.
14. Adverse events and complications in the application of Biostomasan in accordance with this instruction is not established.
15. The use of biostomasan does not exclude the use of other drugs.
16. Slaughter for meat of farm animals after application of Biostomasan is allowed 5 days after the last treatment. Milk from milking animals for food purposes may be used 3 days after the last treatment.
IV. Personal prevention measures
17. When working with the drug, you should follow the general rules of personal hygiene and safety techniques provided for working with veterinary medicinal products.
18. While working with the drug, you are not allowed to smoke, drink and eat. At the end of the work, you should wash your hands with warm water and soap.
Do not iron and allow the animal to reach the young children within 24 hours after treatment.
19. In case of accidental ingestion of the drug on the skin or mucous membranes, immediately wash it off with plenty of running water. In case of allergic reactions, you should immediately contact a medical institution (with you to have instructions for the use of the drug or a label).
