MASTISEPT-A

INSTRUCTIONS
for the use of the drug “Mastisept-A” as an antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, analgesic and emollient for external use in mastitis, phlegmon, inflammatory, rheumatic diseases, bruises of muscles, joints, ligaments and neuralgia in animals

I. General information

1. Trade name of the drug: Mastisept-A (Mastiseptum-A).
International nonproprietary name: camphor, menthol, methyl salicylate, novocaine, prednisone.
2. Dosage form: ointment.
In appearance, Masticept-A is a viscous homogeneous mass from white to yellow in different shades of color, with a specific odor. The drug as active ingredients in 1 g contains camphor – 50 mg, menthol – 20 mg, methyl salicylate – 20 mg, novocaine – 1 mg, prednisolone – 1 mg, as well as excipients: vaseline – 586 mg; monoglycerides – 91 mg, distilled water – 0.180 ml; turpentine – 50 mg; thymol – 1 mg .
3. Masticept-A is released packaged in plastic jars according to 15; 40; 100; 150; 200; 500 g, as well as buckets of 1; 1.5; 2; 5; 10 and 25 kg. Other packaging is allowed, agreed upon in accordance with the established procedure.
The shelf life of the drug, subject to storage conditions, is 2 years from the date of manufacture. It is forbidden to use the medicine after its expiration date.
4. Store the drug in a closed manufacturer’s package, in a dry, cool, light-protected place at a temperature from 5 to 25 ° C.
5. Masticept-A should be stored in places inaccessible to children.
6. An unused drug with an expired shelf life is disposed of in accordance with the requirements of the legislation.

II. Pharmacological properties

7. Pharmacotherapeutic group of the drug: a complex anti-inflammatory, antiseptic and anesthetic agent.
The drug, due to its constituent components, has an antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, analgesic and locally irritating effect, has a softening effect.
Camphor is the most potent essential oil for external use in the treatment and prevention of inflammation. Since camphor dissolves fats well, its vasodilating effect is manifested both superficially and on deeper lying tissues. At the same time, it acts antiseptically.
Menthol has an irritating, local anesthetic and soothing effect, and has antiseptic properties.
Methyl salicylate has analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects.
Novocaine has a local analgesic effect, reduces the reaction of tissues to the irritating effect of other components of the drug.
Prednisone has an anti-inflammatory and mild analgesic effect.
The complex of auxiliary components included in the preparation ensures deep penetration of active substances through the skin.
According to the degree of exposure to the body, Masticept-A belongs to moderately dangerous substances (hazard class 3 according to GOST 12.1.007-76).
It does not have a sensitizing and irritating effect on the skin and mucous membranes.

III. The order of application

8. Masticept-A is used externally as an antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, analgesic and emollient for the treatment of mastitis, phlegmon, inflammatory diseases and bruises of muscles, ligaments and joints, neuralgia and rheumatic diseases.
9. Contraindication to use is an individual hypersensitivity of the animal to the components of the drug. Do not apply to damaged skin and mucous membranes.
10. Masticept-A, packaged in cans and buckets, is applied in a thin layer to the skin of the affected area of the body and intensively rubbed.
The drug can also be applied to a clean white cloth or gauze napkin, which is pre-covered with the affected area of the body, then the napkin with the drug is strengthened with a bandage or special glue for 20-40 minutes.
Apply Masticept-A daily 2-3 times a day until recovery.
11. Symptoms of overdose when using the drug in accordance with this instruction have not been established.
12. The peculiarities of the drug’s action at the beginning of its use or at its cancellation have not been revealed.
13. Skipping the next dose of the drug (treatment) should be avoided, as this may lead to a decrease in therapeutic effectiveness. In case of skipping one or more doses, the use of the drug is resumed as early as possible in the same dosage and according to the same scheme.
14. Side effects and complications when using Masticept-A in accordance with this instruction have not been established.
15. The use of Masticept-A does not exclude the use of other medicines.
16. Milk and meat of slaughtered animals are allowed to be used for human food no earlier than 3 days after the last use of the drug.

IV. Personal prevention measures

17. When working with Masticept-A, the general rules of personal hygiene and safety should be observed, provided for when working with medicines for animals.
18. When working with the drug, it is forbidden to drink, smoke and eat. After working with the drug, wash your hands with soap. People with hypersensitivity to the components of Masticept-A should avoid direct contact with the drug. Empty containers from under the drug must not be used for household purposes; they must be disposed of with household waste.
19. If Masticept-A gets on the mucous membranes or skin, it is necessary to rinse them with a stream of clean water, and then wipe the skin with a cloth soaked in vegetable oil. In case of accidental ingestion, give the victim a large amount of water (4-5 glasses) to drink and induce vomiting. In case of allergic reactions, you should immediately contact a medical institution (have the instructions for use of the drug and the label with you).
