CEFTIFARM

INSTRUCTION

on the application of Cetifarma for treatment

bacterial infections of cattle and pigs

I. GENERAL INFORMATION

1. Trade name of the medicinal product Setiform.

International nonproprietary name: ceftiofur hydrochloride.

2. Dosage form: suspension for injection.

In 1 ml of Ceftifarm as the active substance contains 50 mg of ceftiofur (in the form of hydrochloride), as well as auxiliary components.

In appearance, Ceftifarm is a suspension of white to dark cream color.

3. The drug is produced packaged in 10, 50, 100, 200 ml in glass or polymer bottles of appropriate capacity.

4. The drug is stored in the closed packaging of the manufacturer, separately from food and feed, in a dry place, protected from direct sunlight, at a temperature of 5 °C to 25 ° C.

The shelf life of Cetifarma at observance of storage conditions is 2 years from production date. After the first opening of the vial, the drug should be used within 30 days.

It is forbidden to use Ceftifarm after the expiration date.

5. Septiform should be stored in places inaccessible to children.

6. Unused medicinal product is disposed of in accordance with the requirements of the legislation.

 

II. PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES

7. Septiform – antibacterial drug of the cephalosporin group.

Ceftiofur hydrochloride, a part of Cetifarma – cephalosporin antibiotic of the third generation, broad-spectrum, has a bactericidal effect on gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria, including strains producing β-lactamase and some anaerobic bacteria: Escherichia coli, Pasteurella (Mannheimia) haemolytica, Pasteurella multocida, Haemophilus somnus, Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae, Haemophilus parasuis, Salmonella cholerasuis, Streptococcus suis, Streptococcus zooepidemicus, Streptococcus equi, Pasteurella spp, staphilococcus spp., Actynomyces pyogenes, Salmonells typhimurium, Streptococcus agalactiae, S. dysgalactiae, S. bovis, Klebsiela, Citrobacter, Enterobacter, Bacillus spp., Proteus spp., Fusobacterium necrophorum and Porphiromonas assacharolytica (Bacteroides melaninogenicus).

III. THE ORDER OF APPLICATION

8. Ceftifarm is used to treat bacterial respiratory infections caused by Pasteurella haemolytica, Pasteurella multocida, Haemophilus somnus, for the treatment of necrobacteriosis associated with Fusobacterium necrophorum and Porphiromonas assacharolytica (Bacteroides melaninogenicus) in cattle; for the treatment of acute endometritis of cows; for the treatment of respiratory infections caused By Pasteurella haemolytica, Pasteurella multocida, actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae and Streptococcus suis in pigs.

9. Contraindication to the use of Cetifarma is the individual sensitivity of animals to ceftiofur and other beta-lactam antibiotics. With the development of allergic reactions in the animal, the drug is canceled and antihistamines and (or) adrenaline are prescribed.

10. Ceftifarm is administered to cattle once a day subcutaneously at a dose of 1 ml per 50 kg of animal weight (1 mg of ceftiofur per 1 kg of animal weight) in diseases:

– respiratory tract – within 3-5 days;

– necrobacteriosis – within 3 days;

– endometritis – within 5 days.

Pigs drug is used for respiratory diseases once a day intramuscularly at a dose of 1 ml per 16 kg of animal weight (3 mg Ceftifarma per 1 kg of live weight) for 3 days.

11. Symptoms of drug overdose have not been established.

12. Features of action at the first application and cancellation of the drug is not revealed.

13. Skipping the next dose of the drug should be avoided, as this can lead to a decrease in therapeutic efficacy. In case of missing one dose of the drug is resumed in the same dosage and according to the same scheme.

14. When using Cetifarma according to the instructions for use side effects and complications is not established.

15. Septiform should not be mixed in the same syringe with other drugs.

16. Slaughter for cattle meat is carried out not earlier than 8 days, pigs-6 days after the last injection of the drug. Meat of animals forcibly killed before the expiration of this period can be used for feeding fur-bearing animals.

Milk from animals, in the process of treatment with Ceftifarm, can be used for food purposes without restrictions.

 

IV. PERSONAL PREVENTION MEASURES

17. When applying Cetifarma should follow the General rules of safety provided when dealing with drugs.

18. When working with the drug, it is forbidden to drink, smoke and eat. Wash hands with soap and water after handling the medicine. Empty bottles from-under Cetifarma may not be used for domestic purposes, they must be disposed of with household waste.

19. If the drug gets on the mucous membranes, it is necessary to wash them with a large amount of tap water. In case of allergic reactions or accidental ingestion of the drug in the human body, you should immediately contact a medical institution (have the instructions for use or label).
