MASTICAN

INSTRUCTION
for application of antiseptics Mastikan
for the treatment of acute mastitis in lactating cows, goats and sheep
(Organization – developer: OOO Firma “Biokhimfarm”, Raduzhny, Vladimir region)

I. General information

1. Trade name of the medicinal product: Mastikan(Mastikan). International nonproprietary name: kanamycin + benzylpenicillin + trimecaine + prednisone.

2. Dosage form: suspension for topical use. The drug as active ingredients contains kanamycin, benzylpenicillin, trimecaine, prednisolone and filler.

3. The drug is produced packaged in plastic syringes-tubes for intracisternal injection and glass bottles, hermetically sealed with rubber stoppers and rolled aluminum caps. Shelf life of the drug under storage conditions — 2 years from the date of manufacture. Masticina do not use after expiration date.

4. Store the drug in a closed package of the manufacturer, separately from food and feed, in a dry, dark place, at a temperature of 5° to 25°C.

5. Mastika should be stored in places inaccessible to children.

6. Special precautions for disposal of unused medicinal product with the expired date is not required.


II. Pharmacological properties

7. Pharmacological group: combined antibacterial drugs. Mastika – antimicrobial drug for the treatment of acute mastitis in lactating cows, sheep and goats. Pharmacological properties of the drug due to its constituent components. Benzylpenicillin in the composition of the drug has a high antibiotic activity mainly against gram-positive microorganisms (streptococci, pneumococci, staphylococci, diphtheria and sticks anthrax, Clostridium), gram-negative cocci, spirochaetes and some pathogenic fungi. Resistant to the action of penicillin are gram-negative microorganisms, Rickettsia, viruses, protozoa and almost all fungi. The action of penicillin resistant strains of Staphylococcus, E. coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and other microorganisms that form the enzyme penicillinase. Kanamycin sulfate has a bactericidal effect on many gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms, including resistant to other antibiotics (penicillin, streptomycin, levomycetin, tetracycline). Mycobacterium tuberculosis is sensitive to the antibiotic. Pathogenic fungi, viruses, anaerobic flora are not affected. Resistance of microorganisms to kanamycin develops slowly and to a small extent. Trimekain relieves severe irritation in the pathological  ocus, turns off peripheral innervation, resulting in anesthesia. Glucocorticoid prednisolone has anti-inflammatory and mild analgesic effect.

III. The order of application

9. Contraindication to the use of the drug is an individual hypersensitivity to its components.

10. Mastikan introduce intracisternal. Before administration, the drug is heated to 36°C — 40°C and intensively shaken. 16. Milk should not be used for food purposes during treatment and before the expiration of 3 days after the last administration of the drug. Until this time the milk is used to feed animals. Slaughter of animals for meat is allowed no earlier than 4 days after the last administration of the drug. IV. Personal prevention measures
