MASTIFORT

INSTRUCTION

on application of the preparation Mastifort as antibacterial preparation for prevention and treatment of mastitis at cows, mares, camels, ewes and goats

I. General information

1. Trade name of the medicinal product: Multiport.

International nonproprietary name: cloxacillin, amoxicillin.

2. Dosage form: suspension for topical use.

In appearance, the Mastifort is a thick viscous suspension of gray to grayish-white color with a specific smell, at 35°C-40°C acquires fluidity. The drug as active substances in 1 ml contains cloxacillin sodium salt-20 mg, amoxicillin trihydrate-7.5 mg, and excipients – up to 1 ml.

3. Mastifort is produced packaged in 10 ml in hermetically sealed syringes-dispensers made of polymer material, the tips of which are equipped with protective caps and in glass or polymer bottles with a capacity of 50 ml, 100 ml, 200 ml, closed with rubber stoppers, reinforced aluminum caps.

4. Store the drug in the closed packaging of the manufacturer, in a dry, protected from light place, at a temperature of 5°C to 25°C.

Shelf life under storage conditions – 2 years from the date of production. Prohibits the use of Multiport after the expiration date.

5. Multiport should be stored in places inaccessible to children.

6. The drug is disposed of in accordance with the requirements of the legislation.

II. Pharmacological properties

Mastifort-combined antimicrobial, which includes cloxacillin sodium salt and amoxicillin trihydrate, active against most strains of gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms (Streptococcus agalactiae, Streptococcus uberis, Streplococcus dysgalactiae, Staphylococcus spp., Corynebacteriumpyogenes, C. uberis, C. dysgalactiae, C. pyogenes, E. Coli, Bacillus cereus, Bacteroides, Campilobacter SPR., Klebsiellae, Pasteurellae).

The mechanism of action of antibiotics is a violation of the synthesis of the bacterial cell wall, which causes osmotic imbalance in bacteria and their death.

Mastifort on the degree of impact on the body belongs to the 3rd class of danger – moderately dangerous substances (according to GOST 12.1.007-76).

III. The order of application

8. Mastifort is used to treat cows, mares, camels, ewes and goats with clinical and subclinical forms of bacterial etiology mastitis caused by microorganisms sensitive to the components of the drug during lactation.

9. Contraindicated in animals with increased individual sensitivity to the components of the drug.

10. Before the introduction of the drug, milk (secret) is milked from the diseased quarter of the udder, the nipple is disinfected. The drug is heated to 35°C-38°C and actively shaken until smooth. The drug is administered intracisternally. Remove the protective cap from the syringe catheter, insert the catheter into the nipple canal of the affected udder lobe and completely inject the contents of 1 syringe (10 ml). Squeezing the tip of the nipple, carefully remove the syringe and conduct a light massage of the affected quarter of the breast (bottom-top) for uniform distribution of the drug throughout the tank.

The drug, packaged in vials, is injected with a syringe through a milk catheter similarly to the method described above.

Mastifort is administered at intervals of 12 hours. The course of treatment is 1.5-2 days.

11. Symptoms of overdose when using the drug in accordance with this instruction is not established.

12. In case manifestations of have animal signs of individual heightened sensitivity to drug in the early treatment, his the use of should abolish and to appoint means symptomatic therapy.

13. Failure to follow the recommended interval with the re-introduction of Multiport may lead to reduced effectiveness of its application. At the admission of the next dose its application resume as soon as possible.

14. Side effects and complications with proper use and dosage of the drug is not observed. In animals sensitive to the components of Multiport possible allergic reactions.

15. The use of Mastifort does not exclude the use of other drugs specific, pathogenetic and symptomatic therapy.

16. The use of milk obtained from healthy udder lobes in human food is permissible not earlier than 3 days after the last administration of the drug. Milk from patients with lobes-only after complete clinical recovery, confirmed by mastitis tests, but not earlier than the above period. Slaughter of animals for meat is allowed no earlier than 4 days after the last administration of the drug. The meat and milk received before the specified term is utilized or fed to unproductive animals, depending on the conclusion of the doctor of veterinary medicine.

IV. Personal prevention measures

17. When working with Mastforum should follow the General rules of personal hygiene and safety provided when dealing with drugs.

18. When working with the drug, it is forbidden to drink, smoke and eat. After working with Mastforum should wash hands with soap and water.

19. In case of contact with the skin and/or mucous membranes, it is recommended to wash them with plenty of running water. In case of accidental ingestion – give the victim to drink a large amount of water (4-5 glasses) and cause vomiting. In case of allergic reactions, you should immediately contact a medical institution (you should have the instructions for use of the drug and the label).
