MASTYKLOX

INSTRUCTIONS

of using Mastyklox 

for the prevention and treatment of clinical and subclinical mastitis in cows, mares, sheep and goats in the dry period.

I. General information 

1. Trade name of the medicinal product: Mastyclox.

International Nonproprietary Name: Cloxacillin.

2. Dosage form: suspension for topical application.

Mastyclox in 1 dispensing syringe as an active substance contains 500 mg of cloxacillin (in the form of a benzathic acid salt) and a filler-an ointment base.

The preparation is an oil suspension of a viscous consistency from grayish white to light brown in color.

3. The preparation is produced in packaged in hermetically sealed plastic disposable syringes with a capacity of 10 ml, the tips of which are equipped with protective caps or in bottles of dark glass with a capacity of 100 ml, closed with rubber stoppers, coated with aluminum caps.

Syringe dispensers are packed in 20 pieces in cardboard boxes together with instructions for use.

4. Mastyclox stored in a sealed manufacturer’s packaging, separate from food and feed, in a dry place protected from direct sunlight at a temperature of 5 ° C to 25 ° C.

Shelf life under the conditions of storage and transportation – 2 years from the date of production. It is forbidden to use Masticklox after the expiration date.

5. Mastyclox is stored in places inaccessible to children.

6. Unused medicinal product with expired shelf life shall be disposed of in accordance with the requirements of the legislation.

II. Pharmacological properties 

7. Mastyclox refers to the pharmacotherapeutic group of antibacterial drugs. Cloxacillin, which is part of the drug, belongs to the group of semisynthetic penicillins, blocks the synthesis of the cell wall of fissile microorganisms and has a broad spectrum of bactericidal action, is active against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, usually secreted from the secretion of the mammary gland of cows during the dry period, including Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus agalactie, Streptococcus disagalactie, Streptococcus uberis, Klebsiella spp, Arcanobacterium pyogenes, Escherichia coli. and corynebacteria. Mastyclox, due to the use in its composition of a poorly soluble salt of cloxacillin and a special base, has a long bactericidal action; its intracisternal administration allows to provide the therapeutic effect of the drug in the treatment of cows in the dry period during 3-4 weeks.

Cloxacillin is excreted from the body with urine and feces, in lactating animals also with milk.

Mastyclox in terms of the effect on the body refers to low-risk substances (hazard class 4 according to GOST 12.1.007-76) in recommended doses does not have a local-irritant effect on breast tissue.

III. The order of application 

8. Mastyclox is used to prevent and treat mastitis of bacterial etiology in cows, mares, sheep and goats in the dry period.

9. Mastyclox is prohibited for use in animals during lactation, and also less than 28 days before calving. Contraindication is also the individual increased sensitivity of the animal to the components of the drug.

10. Before the administration of the drug, milk (secret) is extracted from the udder quarters, the nipples are disinfected. The drug is heated to 35 ° -40 ° C and shaken gently.

With a syringe dispenser, remove the protective cap and push all the contents into the milk channel of the udder’s part by pressing the piston. Clamping the top of the nipple, gently remove the syringe and spend a slight massage of the nipple and udder from the bottom to the top. Mastyclox is injected once, intracisternally into all parts of the udder immediately after the lactation period, in a single dose to cows and mares – 10 ml (1 injector) in each share of the udder, to sheep and goats – 5 ml (half injector).

The drug, packaged in vials, is injected via a syringe through a milk catheter in a manner similar to that described above.

11. Symptoms of overdose when using Masticklox are not revealed.

12. Features of the drug during its first use and cancellation is not established.

13. The actions of a specialist in the field of veterinary medicine, the owner of the animal, while missing one or more doses of the drug: are not provided.

14. When applying Mastikloks in accordance with this instruction, side effects and complications, as a rule, are not observed. With increased individual sensitivity of the animal to the components of the drug and the appearance of allergy signs, the use of Masticklox is stopped and the animal is prescribed antihistamines and symptomatic therapy.

15. The use of Masticklox does not exclude the use of other medicinal products for animals, with the exception of preparations for intracisternal administration.

16. For food purposes, milk can be used no earlier than 10 days after birth. Milk received before the expiration of the prescribed period, you can use after boiling in the feed of animals.

Slaughter animals for meat is allowed no earlier than 28 days after the administration of the drug. Meat of animals that were forcedly killed earlier than this period can be used for the production of meat-and-bone meal or in fodder for fur-bearing animals.

IV. Personal prevention measures 

17. When working with Masticklox, you should observe the general rules of personal hygiene and safety, provided for when working with medicines.

18. When working with the drug, it is forbidden to drink, smoke and eat. After working with the drug, wash your hands with soap and water. In case of poisoning or the appearance of allergic reactions, you should immediately contact a medical institution (with you to have instructions for the use of the drug or a label).

19. If the product gets on the skin and / or mucous membranes, they should be rinsed with plenty of running water. If accidentally swallowed, give a large amount of water to drink (4-5 glasses) and induce vomiting.
