Instruction

on the use of Rehydrate for prevention and early therapy

acute gastrointestinal infectious diseases

etiology in newborn calves

I. General information


1. Trade name of the drug: Rehydrate (Rehydrat).

International nonproprietary name: sodium chloride, ascorbic acid, glucose, polyvinylpyrrolidone, aminoacetic acid.

2. Rehydrate-a combined drug in the form of powder and granules, containing in one set-package as active substances — sodium chloride 50 g, ascorbic acid 5 g, glucose 200 g, polyvinylpyrrolidone-200 g, aminoacetic acid 30 g, and as auxiliary substances — potassium chloride, calcium lactic acid or calcium acetate.

Components of Rehydrate in appearance is:

– package contents № 1 (polyvinylpyrrolidone) – white or slightly yellow powder;

– contents of package № 2 (glucose) – powder or granules of white or slightly yellowish color;

– the contents of the package number 3 (potassium chloride, sodium chloride, aminoacetic acid, calcium, lactic acid or acetic acid, ascorbic acid)-white or light yellow powder.

3. Rehydrate is prepackaged in a set-packing of total weight 497 g, which is composed of three plastic packages : package 1 — 200 g; package 2 — 200 g; package No. 3 — 97

In each package put a label with the designation of the package number and the name of the component(s).

Unit packing accept set-packing, which is marked indicating: the name of the organization-the manufacturer, its address and trademark; dosage form; name of drug; name and content of active ingredients; batch number; date of manufacture; net mass; the state registration number; expiry date, bar code; the words “For veterinary use”, method of application; information on certification; storage conditions; designation of this standard and are supplied with instructions for use.

Shelf life of Rehydrate under storage conditions-2 years from the date of production. Do not use Rehydrate after the expiration date.

4. Store Rehydrate in a dry, dark place at a temperature of 5°C to 30°C.

5. The drug should be stored out of the reach of children.

6.  Unused product with expired shelf life is disposed of in accordance with applicable law.


II. Pharmacological properties

7. Pharmacotherapeutic group: rehydrating agent for oral administration. Rehydrate helps to remove toxins from the gastrointestinal tract, prevents the formation of casein bosoars in rennet, normalizes the water-salt balance, stimulates digestion, and increases the overall resistance of the body.

According to the degree of impact on the body Rehydrate refers to low-risk substances (hazard class 4 according to GOST 12.1.007-76), in the recommended doses and concentrations does not irritate and sensitize.


III. Application procedure

8. Rehydrate is prescribed to newborn calves for the prevention and early therapy of acute gastrointestinal diseases of non-infectious etiology.

9. Contraindications to the use of Rehydrate is not established, except for a possible allergic reaction to the individual components of the drug.

10. Rehydrate is used in the form of a solution. To do this, the contents of the three packages are dissolved in 10 liters of hot water (70-80°C), stirring is performed until the components are completely dissolved.

The prepared rehydrate solution can be used for three days if it is stored at a temperature not higher than 15 ° C. Unused solution is disposed of on a General basis.

For prophylactic purposes, the Rehydrate is given to calves in the first 6 after birth for 2 days, while 250 ml of Rehydrate solution is added to each single serving of colostrum. Depending on the condition of the calf, the duration of treatment is 5-7 days.

The temperature of the Rehydrate solution before use should be 37°C-38°C.

11. Symptoms of drug overdose have not been established.

12. Features of the drug at its first application is not revealed.

13. If you miss one or more doses of the drug, the course of application must be resumed in the prescribed dosages and the scheme of application.

14. Rehydrate does not cause side effects and complications in animals when used in accordance with this instruction.

15. The use of Rehydrate allows the appointment of other drugs.

16. Animal products at the forced slaughter during and after application of Rehydrate use without restrictions.

IV. Personal prevention measures

17. When working with Rehydrate, the General rules of personal hygiene and safety, provided for when working with drugs, should be observed. At the end work hands should wash warm water with toilet soap.

18. In case of accidental contact of the drug with the skin or mucous membranes of the eye, they should be washed with plenty of running water.

Empty containers from under the drug may not be used for household purposes, it must be disposed of with household waste.

19. If allergic reactions occur as a result of contact with Rehydrate, you should contact a medical institution (you should have instructions for use and a label).
