of using “Betulon” for the treatment of skin diseases, claws and hooves in animals
(organization-developer: “BioKhimPharm”, Raduzhny, Vladimir region).
I. General information
1. Trade name of the preparation: Betulon.
International non-proprietary name: birch tar (Pix liquida Betulae).
2. Dosage form: solution for topical application in aerosol containers.
Betulon as an active substance contains birch tar, as well as auxiliary components.
In appearance, the drug is a liquid of a yellow-brown color.
The drug is released in packaged 100 ml and 150 ml in aerosol cans with spray heads and protective caps.
3. Each cylinder is marked in Russian with the indication: the manufacturer’s organization, its address and trademark, the name, purpose, method of application and volume of the medicinal product in the bottle, the name and content of the active substance, the inscription “For veterinary use”, “Before use shake “, serial number, date of manufacture, expiration date, storage conditions, state registration number, information on compliance confirmation and provide instructions for use.
Shelf life of the drug under the storage conditions -2 years from the date of release. It is prohibited to use Betulon after its expiry date.
4. Store the medicinal product in the manufacturer’s closed container in a dry place, protected from direct sunlight, away from food and feed, at a temperature of 5 ° C to 25 ° C.
5. Betulon should be kept out of the reach of children.
6. Dispose of unused product with expired shelf life in accordance with legal requirements.
II. Pharmacological properties
7. Pharmacotherapeutic group: dermatotropic, antiseptics and disinfectants. Birch tar, which is part of the medicinal product, has a local aseptic and wound-healing effect.
With the skin application of Betulon, birch tar tar is practically not absorbed through the skin and does not enter organs and tissues, and the auxiliary substances form an elastic breathable film, which contributes to a prolonged aseptic and regenerative action of the drug on the treated area of the skin surface.
Betulon in terms of the effect on the body refers to a little dangerous substances (Grade 4 hazard according to GOST 12.1.007-76), in recommended doses does not have skin irritant and resorptive-toxic effects, but causes irritation of the mucous membranes.
III. The order of application
8. Betulon is used by agricultural and small domestic animals (with the exception of cats) with various skin lesions, such as abrasions, dermatitis, eczema, slowly healing wounds, as well as claw diseases (superficial panaritium, etc.) and hooves (suppuration of horny arrows, etc. .).
9. Contraindication to the use of the drug is the increased individual sensitivity of the animal to its components. Betulon should not be used by cats, animals with mucus eczema, and also applied to the open wound surface.
10. Treat animals in a well-ventilated area. In the treatment of lesions in the head, the drug should be prevented from entering the eyes. Before applying the medicine, the affected surface of the skin is sanitized. Then the vial of the drug is shaken carefully and, holding it vertically, spray Betulon on the affected area from a distance of 15-20 cm from the surface to be treated for 1-2 seconds once or twice a day. After applying the drug, the animal is not allowed to lick the formed film for 5 minutes.
Duration of treatment is from 3 to 8 days, determined by the treating veterinarian, depending on the severity of the lesion and the speed of tissue healing.
11. Symptoms of drug overdose are not established.
12. Features of the action during the first application and the cancellation of Betulon is not revealed.
13. In case of missed routine treatment, the course of treatment should be resumed as soon as possible in the dosages prescribed and the schedule of application.
14. When using the drug in accordance with this instruction, side effects and complications are usually not noted. In case of allergic reactions, use of the drug is stopped and antihistamines or other symptomatic treatment is prescribed.
15. The use of Betulon does not exclude the use of other drugs of specific and symptomatic therapy.
16. Meat and milk of productive animals during and after the application of Betulon are allowed to be used for food purposes without restrictions. In the case of forced slaughter of the animal, the treated areas of carcass are cleaned and disposed of.
IV. Personal prevention measures
17. When working with Betulon, you should observe the general rules of personal hygiene and safety, provided for when working with medications.
18. When working with the drug, it is forbidden to drink, smoke and eat. After working with the drug, wash your hands with soap and water. Do not spray near open flames, do not heat or store at temperatures above 60 ° C, do not damage or throw the cylinder into the fire after use. Empty containers from the preparation are forbidden to use for household purposes; it must be disposed of with household waste.
19. If the product gets on the skin and / or mucous membranes, they should be rinsed with plenty of running water. If accidentally swallowed, give a large amount of water to drink (4-5 glasses) and induce vomiting. In case of allergic reactions, you should immediately contact a medical institution (with instructions for the use of the drug and a label).
