INSTRUCTIONS
of using Butafarm in veterinary medicine
(Organization-developer: “BioKhimPharm” in Raduzhny, Vladimir region).
I. General information
1. Trade name of the preparation: Butapharm.
International non-proprietary name: butophosphamide and cyanocobalamin.
2. Dosage form: solution for injection.
In 1 ml of Butafarm, 100 mg of butaphosphamide and 0.05 mg of cyanocobalamin are included as active substances, as well as auxiliary components.
3. In appearance, the preparation is a clear liquid from light pink to pink. Shelf life of the drug under the storage conditions – 2 years from the date of production, after opening the bottle – 10 days.
It is prohibited to use Butafarm after the expiry date. 4. Release the medicinal product sterile packaged in 10, 50 and 100 ml in bottles of appropriate capacity, the vials are sealed with rubber stoppers and rolled with aluminum caps. Bottles of 10 ml are placed in a cardboard box of 50 pieces. Each consumer package is supplied with instructions for use.
5. Store the preparation in the manufacturer’s closed packaging in a dry place, protected from direct sunlight, away from food and feed, at a temperature of 5 ° C to 25 ° C.
6. Butafarm should be stored in places inaccessible to children.
7. Dispose of unused medicinal product in accordance with legal requirements.
8. Released without a veterinarian’s prescription.
II. Pharmacological properties
9. Pharmacotherapeutic group of medicinal product: refers to drugs that regulate metabolic processes in the body. Butafarm refers to complex restorative and tonic drugs, normalizes metabolic and regenerative processes, has a stimulating effect on protein, carbohydrate and fat metabolism, increases the resistance of the organism to unfavorable environmental factors, promotes the growth and development of young animals.
Macroergic phosphorus compounds (ATP and creatine phosphate) accumulate energy, which can then be used for mechanical (muscle contraction), electrical (conducting a nerve impulse), chemical (biosynthesis of various compounds) and electrochemical (active transport of substances through membranes) of organs and tissues.
Included in the composition butafosfan promotes the improvement of liver function, stimulates the conversion of ADP to ATP, increases the motor activity of smooth muscles, stimulates the formation of bone tissue.
Butafarm in terms of the effect on the body refers to low-hazard substances (hazard class 4 according to GOST 12.1.007), in recommended doses does not have local irritating, sensitizing, embryotoxic, teratogenic, mutagenic and carcinogenic effects, does not possess cumulative properties.
III. The order of application
8. Butafarm is assigned to large and small cattle, horses, camels, pigs, dogs, cats, fur-bearing animals and farm poultry for metabolic disorders of various etiology, as well as stimulating and tonic means: – to increase the body’s resistance to diseases of various etiologies ; – as an additional tool in the treatment of diseases caused by a deficiency in the body of calcium and magnesium; – in order to activate labor and prevent postpartum complications (tetany of the uterus, maternity paresis); – with heavy physical exertion and increased physical activity in sports horses (2-3 days before the competition)
9. The drug is contraindicated with increased individual sensitivity to its components.
10. Butafarm is used for large and small cattle, horses for camels, pigs, dogs, cats, fur animals once a day intramuscularly, subcutaneously or intravenously (slowly), poultry – with oral water for 4-5 days in doses, indicated in the table: In the chronic course of the disease, appoint a ½ dose of Butafarm indicated in the table.

The repeated course of treatment, if necessary, is carried out with an interval of 5-14 days.
11. Symptoms of overdose in the appointment of the drug in accordance with the order of use is not noted.
12. Features of the Butafarm action at the first reception or when it is canceled is not established.
13. Passage of the next dose of the drug should be avoided, as this may lead to a decrease in therapeutic effectiveness. In the case of missing one dose, the drug is resumed in the same dosage and according to the same schedule.
14. The drug is not recommended for use during pregnancy and lactation.
15. Butafarm’s use does not exclude the use of other drugs.
16. Slaughtering of animals for meat and the use of meat products, milk and eggs for food purposes during and after Butafarm application is permitted without restrictions.
IV. Personal prevention measures
17. When working with Butafarm, you should follow the general rules of personal hygiene and safety, provided for when working with medications. At the end of work, hands should be washed with warm water and soap.
18. When working with the drug, it is forbidden to drink, smoke and eat. After working with the drug, wash your hands with soap and water.
19. If the product gets on the skin and / or mucous membranes, they should be rinsed with plenty of running water. If accidentally swallowed, give a large amount of water to drink (4-5 glasses) and induce vomiting. In case of allergic reactions, you should immediately contact a medical institution (with instructions for the use of the drug and a label).
