INSTRUCTION
for application of antiseptics Mastitrim
for the treatment of mastitis in cows, buffaloes, mares, camels, sheep and goats during lactation

I. General information
1. Trade name of the medicinal product: Mastitrim.
International nonproprietary name: trimethoprim, sulfadimidine, and prednisolone.
2. Dosage form: suspension for topical use.
In appearance, Mastitrim is an oil suspension of a viscous consistency of yellow or pale yellow; during storage, stratification is allowed. The drug as active ingredients in 1 ml contains trimethoprim-4 mg, sulfadimesin-20 mg, prednisolone-1 mg and filler.
3. The drug is produced packaged in plastic syringes-tubes for intracysternal administration and glass vials, hermetically sealed with rubber plugs and rolled aluminum caps.
It is forbidden to use Mastitrim after the expiration date.
4. Store the drug in a sealed container of the manufacturer, separately from food and feed, in a dry place protected from direct sunlight, at a temperature of 5°C to 25°C.
Shelf life of the drug under storage conditions — 2 years from the date of production.
5. Mastitis keep out of the reach of children.
6. The drug is disposed of in accordance with the requirements of the legislation.
II. Pharmacological properties
7. Pharmacological group: combined antibacterial drugs.
Mastitrim is an antimicrobial drug for the treatment of mastitis in lactating cows, buffaloes, sheep and goats. Pharmacological properties of the drug due to its constituent components, the combination of which expands the spectrum of antibacterial activity of the drug, prevents the development of resistance of microorganisms, reduces the inflammatory response of tissues.
Trimethoprim and sulfadimesin enhance the effect of each other by sequentially affecting the metabolism of n-aminobenzoic and folic acids in the microbial cell. The spectrum of their action covers gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms, including E. coli, Salmonella spp., Clostridium spp., Proteus spp., Bacillus anthracis, Pasteurella spp., Haemophilus spp, Vibrio spp., Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., Shigella spp., Corynebacterium spp., Klebsiella spp., Fusobacterium spp., Bordetella spp., Brucella spp.
Glucocorticoid prednisolone has anti-inflammatory and mild analgesic effect.
III. The order of application
8. Mastitrim is used intracysternally as an antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory agent for the treatment of mastitis in cows,buffaloes, mares, camels, sheep and goats during lactation.
9. Contraindications to the use of the drug is an individual hypersensitivity to its components.
10. Mastitis introduce intracisternal. Before administration, the drug is heated to 36°C-37°C and intensively shaken. The contents of the diseased quarter of the udder is milked into a separate bowl and disposed of, the nipple is disinfected with 70% alcohol.
When using a syringe-tube, the cannula is tightly pressed to the opening of the nipple canal, rigidly fix this position with your fingers and gently press the plunger to inject the drug. The dose to cows, buffaloes, mares and camels — 10 cm3 (the contents of one syringe) in each infected udder lobe, goats and sheep — 5 cm3 (1 syringe) in each infected udder lobe. Used Multitrim one every 3-4 days until clinical recovery.
After the introduction of the drug, a light massage of the nipple from the bottom up is carried out.
The drug, packaged in vials is administered with a syringe through a milk catheter, similarly to the method described above.
11. No overdose symptoms were detected.
12. In case of allergic reactions, the use of the drug is stopped and symptomatic therapy is carried out.
13. In case of missing the next treatment, it is recommended to carry it out as soon as possible. Further the interval of treatments does not change.
14. Side effects: when the drug is sometimes allergic reactions.
15. The use of Masticarla does not preclude the use of other drugs.
16. Meat slaughtered during the treatment of animals used in food without restrictions.
During treatment and within 72 hours after the last use of the drug, milk from the affected quarters is disposed of, and from the rest – fed to animals after boiling. For food purposes, milk from the affected quarters of the udder is used not earlier than 72 hours after the last administration of the drug, provided that the signs of mastitis, confirmed by mastitis tests, completely disappear. Milk from untreated udder quarters can be used for human consumption 24 hours after the last injection. It is impossible to use the milk received from animals during treatment for feeding of young growth in the dairy period.
IV. Personal prevention measures
17. When working with Masterkom should follow the General rules of personal hygiene and safety provided when dealing with drugs.
18. When working with the drug, it is forbidden to drink, smoke and eat. After working with the drug, wash your hands with soap and water.
19. In case of contact with the skin and/or mucous membranes, it is recommended to wash them with plenty of running water. In case of accidental ingestion – give the victim to drink a large amount of water (4-5 glasses) and cause vomiting. In case of poisoning or allergic reactions, you should immediately contact a medical institution (you should have the instructions for the use of the drug or the label).
