The mechanism of action of clozantel, one of the active substances of the preparation, consists in the violation of the processes of phosphorylation and electron transfer, which leads to a violation of the energy exchange and death of the parasite.

After parenteral administration, the active substances of Santomectin are well absorbed from the injection site and penetrate most of the organs and tissues of the body. The therapeutic concentration of the drug persists for 10-12 days. In recommended doses, the drug does not have a mutagenic, sensitizing, embryotoxic and teratogenic effect. It is excreted from the body with urine, bile, feces, in lactating animals – partly with milk.
