II. Pharmacological properties

9. Gentaflox is a highly effective complex preparation of the latest generation with a wide spectrum of antimicrobial action.

10. Enrofloxacin, which is the active ingredient of Gentaflox, inhibits the bacterial DNA of the bacteria, thereby disrupting the DNA replication process, as a result of which microorganisms can not reproduce. Enrofloxacin is rapidly absorbed into the blood and penetrates into all organs and tissues of the body.

Gentamicin sulfate, which is part of the drug, is a mixture of several antibiotics produced by Micromonospora purpurea. It has a broad spectrum of antimicrobial activity, is active against most gram-positive and some gram-negative microorganisms, including Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., Salmonella spp., Proteus mirabilis, Escherichia coli. Antibiotic does not affect anaerobic bacteria, viruses, protozoa and fungi.

The mechanism of the bactericidal action of gentamicin is due to binding of the 30S subunit by the ribosome and a violation of protein synthesis, which prevents the formation of a complex of transport and information RNA, leading to the death of the microbial cell.

The maximum concentration of the drug in the blood is reached after 1.5-2 hours and lasts for 6 hours, and the therapeutic concentration – for 24 hours.

By the degree of exposure to the body, Gentaflox refers to moderately hazardous substances (hazard class 3 according to GOST 12.1.007).

III. The order of application

11. Gentaflox is used for cattle, horses, camels, pigs, sheep, goats, fur-bearing animals (mink, fox, Arctic fox), rabbits, cats and dogs for treatment of infectious diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, respiratory tract, genitourinary system, joints , soft tissues and skin, necrobacteriosis, umbilical infections, atrophic rhinitis, metritis-mastitis-agalactia syndrome and other primary and secondary infections of bacterial etiology.

12. Contraindications for the use of the drug is kidney disease, as well as increased individual sensitivity of animals to fluoroquinolones and aminoglycosides. It is not recommended to appoint horses with an unformed musculoskeletal system, as this can lead to disruption of the development of the joints.

13. Gentaflox is administered once a day, 0.05 ml / 1 kg of body weight:

Pigs: intramuscularly 3-7 days.

Cattle, horses, camels, sheep, goats: subcutaneously – 3-5 days.

Fur animals (mink, fox, Arctic fox) – 3-5 days,

Rabbits – 3-5 days,

Cats, dogs: intramuscularly – 3-5 days.

Do not introduce cattle, horses and camels – more than 10 ml, sheep, goats, calves and pigs into more than 5 ml, pigs, fur animals, rabbits, cats and dogs – more than 2.5 ml.

14. Overdose is almost impossible, because the safety threshold is many times higher than the therapeutic dose of active substances.

15. Features of the drug during the first admission or when it is canceled is not established.

16. The use of Gentaflox does not adversely affect the course of pregnancy, lactation and development of offspring in animals.

17. Passage of the next dose of the drug should be avoided, as this may lead to a decrease in therapeutic effectiveness. If the interval between two injections of the drug is accidentally increased, it should be administered as soon as possible.

18. When applying Gentaflox in accordance with this instruction, side effects and complications, as a rule, are not observed. In rare cases, the animal at the injection site may develop edema, which dissolves spontaneously within 1-2 days.

19. Gentaflox should not be mixed in one syringe with other medicines (levomycetin, theophylline, tetracyclines, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs), and also not be used simultaneously with bacteriostatic chemotherapeutic drugs.

20. Slaughter for meat is allowed: pigs after 40 days, sheep, goats, cattle and horses 60 days after the last use of the drug. Meat of animals, who were forcedly killed before the expiration of these terms, can be used in fodder for fur animals.

Milk milking animals may be used for food purposes no earlier than 48 hours after the last administration of the drug. Milk, obtained during the treatment period and within 48 hours after the last administration of the drug, can be used after boiling in animal feed.
